What Does the Lincolnshire 11+ Test?

Verbal Reasoning (GL Assessment)

Most Lincolnshire grammar schools use the GL Assessment Verbal Reasoning paper. This covers all 21 GL question types (A–U), including synonyms (Type A), antonyms (Type B), analogies (Type E), homophones (Type G), anagrams (Type J), hidden words (Type L), and letter codes (Type S/T). Children typically sit a 50-minute paper with 80 questions.

English

An English comprehension paper is included at most schools. This tests reading understanding, vocabulary in context, grammar and punctuation. Strong vocabulary is essential — children need to understand and use words at or above their year group level.

Mathematics

A Maths paper is included by most schools. Topics include arithmetic, word problems, shape and space, and data handling — broadly aligned to the Year 6 curriculum with some extension.
